From Jamaica to the American Dream

Born and raised in Jamaica, Kirk grew up surrounded by the bold, rich flavors of the island’s cuisine. He always dreamed of bringing those flavors to a larger audience. After immigrating to the United States, he pursued that dream with unwavering determination.

As a U.S. Military Veteran, Kirk has dedicating years of service to his country. His experience extended beyond the battlefield—he also provided security for former President Barack Obama, reinforcing his commitment to excellence, discipline, and leadership.

The Birth of Nyam Sum

Kirk's entrepreneurial journey began with Moringa Long Island, a successful nutritional supplement and tea company that highlighted his passion for health and wellness. Understanding the deep connection between food and well-being, he decided to merge his knowledge of nutrient-rich ingredients with his love for traditional Jamaican cuisine.

In Central Islip, NY, he launched Nyam Sum, a restaurant dedicated to delivering authentic Jamaican flavors with a health-conscious twist. The response was overwhelming—the locals embraced the bold seasonings, soulful dishes, and vibrant energy of the restaurant.

Following this success, Kirk expanded Nyam Sum to a second location in Amityville, NY, solidifying its reputation as one of the finest Jamaican eateries in the region.
